European football bosses could take the prestigious Super Cup on a world tour.
UEFA is understood to be considering the potential of playing the traditional August curtain-raiser, between the previous campaign’s winners of the Champions League and Europa League, outside Europe.
While nothing has been agreed yet it is believed to be on the agenda, with Europe’s top clubs under increasing pressure to play top fixtures in the United States, Asia and elsewhere.
UEFA have denied reports a Champions League final could be staged in New York, but taking another major fixture between two European superpowers outside its home continent is a possibility.

The UEFA Super Cup was hosted in Tallinn, Estonia last summer and next season is in Turkey’s Istanbul. Once an annual fixture in Monaco, it has also gone to Prague, Cardiff , Georgian capital Tbilisi, Trondheim in Norway and Macedonia’s Skopje in recent years.
The next TV deal is due to expire in 2021 and going further afield after that could be on the agenda.
MirrorSport understands TV companies are aware of the interest overseas, but it remains to be seen whether it can become a reality in the future.
La Liga have already announced plans to stage games in the United States, and the Premier League also looked at a 39th game concept as they know going overseas would be huge financially.
Spain’s Super Cup, between champions Barcelona and cup winners Sevilla, was played in the Moroccan city of Tangier this year, while the Italian equivalent has been staged in China four times and Qatar twice in the past decade.
