The relationship between PSG sporting director Antero Henrique, left, and Thomas Tuchel, right, has broken down
Respected title La Parisien has claimed he no longer has a relationship with immediate manager Antero Henrique after falling out over the lack of signings in the transfer window.
Tuchel, 45, had been desperate for the club to bring in quality to the central area of his squad, particularly after veteran Thiago Motta retired at the end of last season.
It left PSG shot of options, and they decided to make a big play of trying to sign N’Golo Kante from Chelsea.
But the French midfielder made it clear he had no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge, forcing PSG to look elsewhere to provide the player Tuchel wanted.
Tuchel was desperate for the club to bring in new midfielders over the summer
Makeshift midfielder Marquinhos was given a chasing against Liverpool in the Champions League
That responsibility effectively fell onto the shoulders of Henrique – and the 50-year-old former chief at Porto failed to deliver.
With Marco Verratti injured, Tuchel has been left with a complete lack of options – to the extent he has been forced to push defender Marquinhos into a holding midfield role.
With Angel Di Maria and Adrien Rabiot also being asked to join him in a makeshift midfield with none playing in their best positions, that area of the pitch has been causing Tuchel huge concerns.
Never more so was that evident than against Liverpool on Tuesday night where Jurgen Klopp’s side completely controlled that area of the match.
Marquinhos in particular looked completely overrun, something even PSG players seem to be concerned about.
Asked about the way they set up in midfield at Anfield, captain Thiago Silva snapped: “We must ask Antero. I do not want to answer this question.”
Tuchel is no stranger to falling out with club bosses, enjoying a fractious relationship with the board before quitting Borussia Dortmund.
