At the beginning of each season, UEFA releases its rankings of club teams from its member countries, which are then updated throughout the season. The latest rankings were released this week and Roma were big movers. The Giallorossi leaped up from twenty-first place all the way thirteenth; a jump of eight spots. The rankings take into account the last five seasons of European results for each team. Therefore Roma’s big run to the Champions League semifinals last season, coupled with the removal of the 2013/14 season when Roma didn’t qualify for a European competition, allowed them to greatly increase their coefficient. In the process of their big move, Roma have jumped Italian rivals Napoli and English giants Manchester United, among others. In addition, Roma now rank as the second highest Serie A club behind fifth ranked Juventus. The rankings will be updated throughout the season. The top 21 in the rankings can be seen below.
