Popular twitch streamer Saqib “Lirik” Zahid was banned from Twitch on September 10th after an UEFA live streaming DMCA was filed against him.
UPDATE: 9/10/2018 – 2:31 PM PST
Lirik has since taken to his Twitter account once again and explained the situation behind him being banned citing that Twitch had to legally follow through with the DMCA notice and that he is no longer banned from the platform.
Twitch needs to follow through legally when a DMCA like this happens. It is LAW.
This is more on the company that flagged my channel without properly doing their research.
The fact that they can just instantly ban is beyond broken. I will definitely be taking action.

I have talked to the right people to figure out the full story as to why/how it happened and to prevent it in the future.
At the end of the day it was a DMCA takedown with no evidence/occurrence of the reason given.
Channel is no longer banned.

Original Story
Lirik is one of the most popular streamers on the Platform on Twitch, as the content creator routinely pulls in tens of thousands of viewers no matter what game he is playing. However, while playing the Beta for the Blackout Battle Royale game mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on Monday, September 10th, Lirik was banned from Twitch due to a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice that was issued to Twitch and filed against Lirik for allegedly live streaming the copyrighted work of the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations).
Lirik took to Twitter to state his confusion regarding himself being banned for allegedly live streaming content from the UEFA when he does not not have any knowledge of the UEFA. The confusion from Lirik regarding the UEFA and his streaming of the Blackout Beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 at the time of himself being banned has led to much confusion and outrage from the gaming community regarding why the streamer was banned.
I got suspended, Lol. What the fuck is UEFA? @Twitch pic.twitter.com/k4IRVFFFFC

At the time of this writing it is currently unknown how long exactly the popular streamer has been banned due to the DMCA notice filed against him for allegedly live streaming copyrighted UEFA content. Many other high profile Twitch streamers and video game community members took to the replies of the announcement from Lirik stating he was banned from Twitch to voice their support for the streamer and their displeasure with how the situation was handled.

wtf? Twitch needs to have better ways to protect a broadcaster if the claim is absolutely bs. You should claim lost wages

Cohh Carnage
This is scary.
You were streaming a hot new game, climbing up the numbers and then get hit with a seemingly 100% incorrect DMCA. This is basically ever casters nightmare.
Best of vibes to you dude. No fucking clue what’s going on but we’re all hoping you get back quickly.

With the situation of the long time streamer being banned from Twitch due to a copyright claim for his alleged live streaming of content from an organization he had no knowledge of before in the UEFA, many members of the community are calling for a look into how Twitch approaches its decision to issue a ban on a streamer on what currently looks to be a baseless claim.
We will continue to update this story as more information is made available.
