Sevilla’s Maxime Gonalons suffers broken leg expected to miss six weeks

Ousmane Dembele’s wonder strike delivered the Spanish Super Cup for Barcelona as Lionel Messi broke the record for most trophies won at the club.

Maxime Gonalons is expected to miss at least six weeks of action after breaking his leg in a training session with Sevilla.

The France international, who was linked with a move to Crystal Palace in the summer, only joined on loan from Roma in August after Steven N’Zonzi moved the other way.

Sevilla confirmed that Gonalons was sent for a scan following a heavy collision, revealing a fracture in his right fibula.

While Sevilla did not set a time-frame on his recovery, it is likely that he will be out for a minimum of six weeks.

Gonalons has made four appearances in all competitons for Sevilla so far, bagging his first goal in a 3-0 Europa League win over Sigma Olomouc.
