Ibarra, 23, was first called up by his country last year, notching two caps at senior level to date. He joined Minnesota in July during this summer’s transfer window, and has scored one goal in five appearances to date for the Loons, in just 92 minutes of game action.
The good news is Ibarra shouldn’t have to travel too far for the selection, Ecuador will play Jamaica on September 7 at Red Bull Arena, before taking on Guatemala on September 11 at Toyota Park, getting a preview of two MLS stadia before he’s played in them for his club team.
