Valencia set to sign Goncalo Guedes from PSG for €40 million

All three of Paris Saint-Germain’s strike force were on the score-sheet in a comfortable 3-1 win over Angers.

Valencia have confirmed Goncalo Guedes is set to return to the club after a deal was agreed with Paris Saint-Germain.

After lengthy negotiations Valencia issued an official statement on Monday stating that a “definitive transfer” is now in place.

“Valencia have reached an agreement on Monday with PSG for the definitive transfer of Portugal international Guedes,” it read. “The player will travel to Valencia on Tuesday to sign his contract as a new Valencia player.”

Guedes, 21, scored five goals and assisted nine more in 27 La Liga appearances while on loan with Los Che last season and made it clear before he returned to PSG that he wanted the move to become permanent.

The former Benfica man, who only moved to Parc des Princes for around €25 million in January of 2017 has been in limbo since returning to the French capital after his World Cup campaign with Portugal this summer.

Guedes played 244 minutes without scoring a goal in Russia as the European champions went out to an Edinson Cavani-inspired Uruguay.

During his time alongside Cavani with PSG, the Portuguese made just eight Ligue 1 appearances with a solitary assist.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Valencia will pay €40m plus up to €10m more to take the total amount to around double what PSG paid for him less than two years ago.
