The Uruguay international could make his 2018-19 debut having missed the opening games of the season due to an injury picked up at the World Cup

Paris Saint-Germain hit-man Edinson Cavani has not played for club or country since he sustained a hamstring injury in the last-16 of the World Cup against Portugal.

The Uruguay striker was forced off in the second half of the game after scoring a magnificent brace to send his country through to the quarter-finals, where they lost out to eventual winners France without the PSG star.

Cavani missed the capital club’s opening two games of the new Ligue 1 season but he is now set for a return to action after being named in Thomas Tuchel’s latest squad, which will be a big boost for supporters given his outstanding goalscoring record for the club.

The 31-year-old has spent the last five years of his career in Paris, scoring 167 goals in just 225 appearances and leading from the front as PSG have continued to dominate French football.

Even the arrival of Brazilian superstar Neymar last summer didn’t force Cavani into the background, as he once again produced the goods by scoring 40 goals in all competitions to outscore his new team-mate.

If the French champions are to finally progress to the latter stages of the Champions League this season, then their star forward’s fitness is of paramount importance and their German coach will no doubt be hoping that he can have an instant impact if indeed he plays a part against Angers on Saturday.

Thilo Kehrer has also been included in Tuchel’s 18 man squad, who signed for the club from Schalke this summer.

Meanwhile, Timothy Weah has been left out of the squad altogether amid reported interest from fellow French outfit RC Strasbourg, although it is understood that the club does not wish to lose the 18-year-old starlet during this transfer window.

PSG will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the 2018-19 campaign after picking up comfortable wins against Caen and Guingamp over the last couple of weeks.
