2018 US Open Cup final to be broadcast on ESPN2, UDN on Sept. 26

US Soccer announced on Monday the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final, taking place on September 26 at BBVA Compass Stadium between the Houston Dynamo and Philadelphia Union, will be broadcast in the United States on ESPN2 and UDN.

The broadcast will begin at 8 pm ET that evening, with the two teams vying for their first Open Cup title – in the case of the Union, it would be their first major silverware in any competition, while the Dynamo previously won two MLS Cups (2006, 2007).

According to U.S. Soccer, “The winner will also collect $300,000 and earn a direct berth to the 2019 Concacaf Champions League. The runner-up will receive $100,000.”

The Dynamo beat local qualifier NTX Rayados in their opening game of the tournament, before downing three consecutive MLS opponents: Minnesota United FC, Sporting Kansas City, and LAFC, all at home.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, played all pro teams on their road to the final: USL side Richmond Kickers, followed by the New York Red Bulls, Orlando City SC and the Chicago Fire. The final will be the Union’s first game on the road in the Open Cup this year.
