Chelsea, United encouraged as Ramsey talks stall
Chelsea and Manchester United are “on alert” over Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey after negotiations over a new contract stumbled, according to the Sun.
It reports that the situation has “sparked fears” over Ramsey’s future in North London, with less than a year left on his deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Both Chelsea and United were linked with a summer move for the 27-year-old and have been offered encouragement for the winter window by news that “little movement” has been made on talks.
The Sun, which says Wales international Ramsey “wants a bumper increase on his £110,000-a-week wages,” quotes a source as saying that the Gunners “could lose another of their top stars if they are not careful.”
Liverpool’s Karius heading for Besiktas
After his Champions League final nightmare, goalkeeper Loris Karius is on his way out of Liverpool, according to the Mirror.
Karius, who has lost his place to big-money summer signing Alisson, is set to join Besiktas on an initial loan with a view to a permanent move.
The Mirror says Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp “is ready to let the distraught keeper leave Anfield,” and negotiations with Besiktas are ongoing.
If Karius does go, then Simon Mignolet will stay, “with the Reds boss ready to keep one of the two goalkeepers” as backup to Alisson.
Mignolet was reported to have interested Napoli — but it is Karius who now appears set to move on.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund want Divock Origi after a potential move to Wolves fell through, the Liverpool Echo reports.
It says Liverpool would be willing to sell Origi but will not budge on their £27 million valuation of the Belgium international.
Dortmund “have registered an interest” in the 23-year-old, but have yet to table an offer as they aim to strengthen their attacking options.
Leipzig step up Lookman chase
RB Leipzig have tabled an improved £22 million offer for Everton forward Ademola Lookman, who shone for them on loan last season.
The Mirror reports that the Bundesliga side “are refusing to give up on landing the 20-year-old” and are ready to break their transfer record to do so.
Following the signings of Richarlison and Bernard, Everton are prepared to let Lookman go — but the Mirror suggests Leipzig will have to increase their offer still further, with the Merseysiders looking for £30 million.
Tap-ins
– Aston Villa remain hopeful of bringing in another new face or two on loan, according to the Mail, which says Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham could be one of them.
Further loan deals for last season’s playoff finalists are likely, with manager Steve Bruce keen to include option to make them permanent and optimistic that Abraham can persuaded to move to Villa Park.
– Reading manager Paul Clement is keen on a reunion with his former Swansea winger Nathan Dyer, according to the BBC.
It reports that Dyer, 30, was not part of the Swansea squad for the game at Birmingham on Friday and could be on his way to the Royals, with a loan most likely.
