Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos believes Jurgen Klopps comments about his collision with Mo Salah were out of frustration because Liverpool lost the Champions League final.
Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan is closing in on a move to Cagliari after the Serie A side agreed a £2 million deal, a source has told ESPN FC.
Klavan will fly to Italy on Friday to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms, with the Italian transfer window closing at 8 p. m. CET on the same day.
Liverpool have been open to offers for the 32-year-old Estonia international, who is in the final year of his contract, although manager Jurgen Klopp has not been actively looking to move him on.
The source said Klopp had sanctioned Klavan’s move because the centre-back wants to play regularly but his game-time at Anfield would have been severely limited this season.
Klavan played 28 times last season, but the source said Klopp has been encouraged by Joe Gomez’s performances at centre-half in preseason and the return of Joel Matip from a thigh injury.
Nathaniel Phillips, a 21-year-old centre-back from the Liverpool academy, has also impressed coaches in the summer.
Klavan joined Liverpool from Bundesliga side Augsburg in a €5m deal in 2016 and has made 53 appearances, scoring twice.
