GUSTAVO POYET has been “temporarily dismissed” for a week by Bordeaux — after an astonishing rant at the club’s board over the sale of a player.
After initial reports the gaffer had been sacked, president Stephane Martin said the 50-year-old had been suspended for a week and hinted the two sides can work things out.

Gus Poyet has been ‘temporarily dismissed’ by Bordeaux after claiming the club sold a player behind his back
Poyet was furious with the sale of forward Gaetan Laborde to Montpellier
Players briefly refused to train when they heard this morning that the former Chelsea and Spurs playmaker had been axed.
Signs still do not look good for Poyet though, with a meeting pencilled in for next Friday between club and boss.
Girondins supremo Martin said: “We decided he had overstepped the mark. The club made this decision.
“Whatever prompted him to make these statements is down to him to answer.
“It is still a surprising, violent exit, after a victory.”
Poyet was furious with the club after claims they flogged forward Gaetan Laborde to Montpellier behind his back.
The player was due to turn up to the club’s Europa League qualifier against Mariupol, but did not show to their pre-match meeting at a hotel near the ground.
And only after calling the player did Poyet realise he had been sold to their Ligue 1 rivals.
Poyet has been in charge at Bordeaux since January
Poyet’s side lost 2-0 at home to Strasbourg on Sunday after Pablo Castro was sent off
It led to a stunning post-match press conference, where the Uruguayan unleashed a tirade on the board.
He said: “I am not happy today. This is my worst day at this club.
“It’s a disgrace what the club has done today with Gaetan Laborde. I told the club he could not leave until we bought another player.
“They did not listen and let Laborde go.
“We arrived at the hotel today at 11:45 and Laborde was not there. We called him and he was in Montpellier.
“Nobody told me anything!”
Assistant Eric Bedouet will be in the dugout for Sunday’s game against Toulouse.
