Antoine Griezmann hints at MLS reunion with Carlos Vela in Los Angeles

Fresh off a UEFA SuperCup triumph on Wednesday, Atlético de Madrid star Antoine Griezmann hinted at a future move to MLS to join an old friend.

The forward, who also won the World Cup with France this year, celebrated the SuperCup win over rivals Real Madrid with a message which aired on Univision Deportes Network for his former Real Sociedad teammate Carlos Vela, now starring stateside for LAFC.

Griezmann, 27, has played his entire professional career to date in Spain, first at Sociedad alongside Vela, and since 2014 with Atlético. While Griezmann has linked himself to an MLS move here, he’s been the subject of numerous transfer rumors in recent years, most recently to Manchester United and then Barcelona, moves that have yet to come to pass.

For his part, when Vela was signed by LAFC in the summer of 2017 ahead of the expansion team’s first season, he immediately hinted at bringing his friend Griezmann to the club, one day.
