Promising forward Myziane Maolida, 19, has left boyhood club Olympique Lyonnais for Patrick Vieira’s OGC Nice on a five-year, €10m deal.
Olympique Lyonnais have confirmed that young forward Myziane Maolida has made the switch to OGC Nice. A semi-finalist with France at the Euros this summer, Maolida is widely considered to be set for big things, with his new deal reportedly including a release clause in the vicinity of €100m.
As announced by OL, the five-year deal was worth €10m, on top of which the Rhône valley club will receive 30% of any profit made by Nice on the eventual re-sale of the player, a slice characterised as ‘significant’ in the club’s communiqué.
A versatile forward
Capable of playing in any position across the front line, Paris native Maolida has three Ligue 1 Conforama appearances (two starts) under his belt from last season. The 2017-18 campaign also saw him score his first top-flight goal… away to OGC Nice cat the Allianz Riviera. He also made six UEFA Europa League appearances, scoring one goal.
On his Twitter account, the new Nice number 26 shared his joy with his fans while thanking the club whose renowned youth academy he came up through: “Very happy to join OGC Nice! Very motivated for this new challenge, can’t wait to start the season with my new teammates! Thanks to OL, my boyhood club, for these years and I wish you all the best for the season ahead.”
