Do you like late drama? Then Week 24 of the 2018 MLS regular season was for you.
Three games were decided in second-half stoppage time, while two others featured pivotal swings in the final 10 minutes of regulation. Performances that led to dramatic outcomes were highlighted in the Team of the Week presented by Audi.
Among the leaders on the Team of the Week XI, D.C. United, who won 3-2 on one of the most dramatic plays you’ll ever see, and the Seattle Sounders, who settled their game a little bit earlier than stoppage time, lead the way, with 12 teams being represented in the 18.
Audi Player Index Spotlight
This week’s spotlight player is D.C. United midfielder Luciano Acosta, who scored a hat trick in the aforementioned 3-2 win over Orlando City on Sunday. Acosta won the Audi Player Index Performance of the Week, earning 1,553 points, best in MLS.
The Argentine had a 100 percent shot accuracy rate in the game, a 75 percent strike rate and four key passes in the victory.
