PSG negotiating Jerome Boateng fee; Watford target Goncalo Guedes – source

Franck Ribery hailed Jerome Boateng as one of the best central defenders in the world, in spite of the German being linked with a move away from Munich.

Paris Saint-Germain are pushing ahead with their move for Jerome Boateng and Watford have made a late bid for Goncalo Guedes, a source close to the club confirmed to ESPN FC.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel wants to add Boateng to his defensive options, and although he initially wanted to keep Guedes, he has since understood that he only wants to play for Valencia after enjoying his loan last season.

A source recently said an agreement has already been reached with Boateng over a move to PSG after talks began prior to the start of the World Cup.

Sport Bild reported that Boateng will be represented by agent Christian Nerlinger in talks with PSG sporting director Antero Henrique on Thursday as a deal moves closer.

And a source confirmed a report from Le Parisien that PSG and Bayern could agree a €45 million fee after negotiations began at €60m.

PSG’s increased efforts to sign Boateng coincide with an offer of almost €60m from Watford for Guedes, the source confirmed.

Henrique has been trying to get Valencia to match that figure since they first expressed interest in making his loan permanent, and he hopes he can persuade Guedes to join Watford because the fee would help PSG balance their books.

While Super Deporte reported PSG are already resigned to resuming negotiations with Valencia for Guedes, the source said that report is premature.

Elsewhere, Paris United reported Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur and Monaco are all interested in youth academy product Arthur Zagre.

The source confirmed Zagre, 16, has received a professional contract offer from PSG, but like defender Stanley N’Soki, who is weighing interest from Newcastle United, he wants time to consider his situation.
