AC Milan have confirmed the sale of Nikola Kalinic to Atletico Madrid after he spent just one season with the Rossoneri.
The 30-year-old Croatia forward has signed a three-year contract with the La Liga side.
Former Blackburn Rovers forward Kalinic joined Milan last summer from Fiorentina, after scoring 12 and 15 goals in his two seasons for the Viola. However, he found the back of the net just six times in 31 league outings for Milan and was deemed surplus to requirements following the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus this summer.
He made a total of 100 Serie A appearances and scored 33 goals.
Kalinic missed Croatia’s run to the World Cup final as coach Zlatko Dalic sent the forward home when, warming up to be a second-half substitute, he told him he was not able to play because of a back problem.
