Chelsea have sent United States international Matt Miazga on a season-long loan to Nantes and given the French club the option to make the deal permanent next summer.
Miazga, 23, also signed a new contract with Chelsea through the 2021-22 season.
The New York Red Bulls product joined Chelsea in January 2016 and made two Premier League starts for the Blues that April.
But he’s spent the last two seasons on loan with Vitesse Arnhem, making 72 appearances in all competitions and helping them win the Dutch Cup for the first time in 2017.

Miazga has made seven appearances for the United States, including in the friendlies against Ireland and France in June.
Caen had also made an inquiry to take Miazga on loan, sources told ESPN FC last week, before the late move by Nantes, the former club of U.S. midfielder Alejandro Bedoya.
