After a summer of big signings, including Arturo Vidal and Malcom, the FC crew assess whether Barcelona are early Champions League favourites.
Arturo Vidal is setting out to “win everything” as he begins his new adventure with Barcelona.
Vidal became Barca’s fourth summer addition on Saturday, joining the club in a reported €25 million move following three seasons at Bayern Munich.
“It is a dream,” Vidal told Barcelona’s website. “I hope to achieve my objectives. I am here to win all the trophies available and I will give everything on the pitch to achieve this.
“During the three-year contract, I hope we can win everything we play for.”
After shining for Bayer Leverkusen from 2007 to 2011, Vidal won four straight Serie A titles with Juventus. He then joined Bayern in 2015 and scored 22 goals while setting up 18 more in 124 games, helping them win the Bundesliga in each of his three seasons.
“To be honest, I am very happy,” Vidal said. “I am looking forward to starting training with my teammates, to wearing such a famous shirt, and to doing important things here.
“I am excited to play with [Lionel] Messi, [Luis] Suarez, Sergio Busquets. … They are all great players.”
Asked what he will bring to Barca, he said: “A lot of fight, lots of passion, helping the team at all times, and making sure the team always wins.”
Barca coach Ernesto Valverde celebrated Vidal’s arrival, saying he brings “experience and energy in midfield.”
The club already added Bordeaux’s Malcom, Sevilla’s Clement Lenglet and Gremio’s Arthur this summer.
Vidal’s first game will be the Spanish Supercup final against Sevilla on Aug. 15.
