Which club is the most storied in football in terms of European success?
It’s what talkSPORT.com wanted to know, so it looked at teams that have won the most UEFA club competitions.
They vary in prestige, with the Super Cup a notch down from the Europa League, which in turn cannot match the glory of winning the Champions League.
Nonetheless, we have tallied up club successes and ranked teams in order, based first on the total number of trophies they have won, then separating them further if necessary by the prestige of the tournaments won.
Included are the Champions League/European Cup, Europa League/UEFA Cup (but not Fairs Cup, which wasn’t a UEFA competition), and three defunct competitions: the Cup Winners’ Cup, the UEFA-endorsed Intercontinental Cup and last, and definitely least, the Intertoto Cup.

23. Dynamo Kiev have won three UEFA club competitions – Kiev won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1975 and 1986, and the Super Cup in 1975
22. Tottenham Hotspur have won three UEFA club competitions – Spurs won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1963 and the UEFA Cup in 1972 and 1984
21. Aston Villa have won three UEFA club competitions – Villa won the European Cup and Super Cup in 1982, and the Intertoto Cup in 2001
20. Borussia Dortmund have won three UEFA club competitions – Dortmund won the 1997 Champions League and Intercontinental Cup, and the 1966 Cup Winners’ Cup
19. Nottingham Forest have won three UEFA club competitions – Forest won the European Cup in 1979 and 1980, and the Super Cup in 1979
18. Parma have won four UEFA club competitions – The Italian club won the UEFA Cup in 1995 and 1999, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1993, and the Super Cup in 1993
17. Hamburg have won four UEFA club competitions – HSV won the European Cup in 1983, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977, and the Intertoto Cup in 2005 and 2007
16. Feyenoord have won four UEFA club competitions – The Dutch club won the European Cup and Intercontinental Cup in 1970, and the UEFA Cup in 1974 and 2002
15. Valencia have won five UEFA club competitions – The Spanish side won the UEFA Cup in 2004, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1980, the Super Cup in 1980 and 2004, and the Intertoto Cup in 1998
14. Anderlecht have won five UEFA club competitions – The Belgian club won the UEFA Cup in 1983, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1976 and 1978, and the Super Cup in 1976 and 1978
13. Chelsea have won five UEFA club competitions – The Blues won the Champions League in 2012, the Europa League in 2013, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1971 and 1998, and the Super Cup in 1998
They may have lost three European Cup finals, but Atletico have won three Europa Leagues (2010, 2012 and 2017), one Cup Winners’ Cup (1962) and two Super Cups (2010 and 2012), plus the Intercontinental Cup in 1974 (they took part after losing the European Cup final to Bayern, when the German club declined to take their place in the de facto club world championship)
11. Sevilla have won six UEFA club competitions – Sevilla have won a record five Europa League/UEFA Cups, in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016, and the Super Cup in 2006
10. Porto have won seven UEFA club competitions – The Portuguese giants have won the European Cup/Champions League twice, in 1987 and 2004, the UEFA Cup/Europa League twice, in 2003 and 2011, the Super Cup in 1987, and the Intercontinental Cup in 1987 and 2004
9. Manchester United have won seven UEFA club competitions – The Red Devils have won three European Cups/Champions Leagues, in 1968, 1999 and 2008, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1991, the Europa League in 2017, the Super Cup in 1991 and the Intercontinental Cup in 1999
8. Inter have won eight UEFA club competitions – The Milan club have won three European Cups/Champions Leagues, in 1964, 1965 and 2010, plus the UEFA Cup in 1991, 1994 and 1998, and the Intercontinental Cup in 1964 and 1965
7. Ajax have won 10 UEFA club competitions – Dutch club Ajax have won four European Cups/Champions Leagues, in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1995, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1987, the UEFA Cup in 1992, the Super Cup in 1973 and 1995, and the Intercontinental Cup in 1972 and 1995

3. Barcelona have won 14 UEFA club competitions – Barca have won the European Cup/Champions League five times, in 1992, 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2015, the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1979, 1982, 1989 and 1997, and the Super Cup in 1992, 1997, 2009, 2011 and 2015
