Jose Mourinho doesn’t feel his Manchester United side are benefitting from their pre-season matches in the International Champions Cup.
ICC executive Charlie Stillitano addresses Jose Mourinho’s criticism of Manchester United’s preseason tour.
MIAMI — Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he is “confident” of getting one new signing before the transfer deadline.
The United boss wants two new players before the August 9 cut-off and has repeatedly painted a bleak picture when asked during the tour of the United States whether it would be possible.
But asked again in Miami ahead of the game against Real Madrid on Tuesday, Mourinho revealed he is feeling more positive about landing one new player before the start of the new season.
“I am confident I will get one, but I think two I am not going to get which is not a drama,” the Portuguese coach told beIN SPORTS.
“In every preseason it happens the same with every club which is the manager wants more.
“It’s our nature, you always want more for your team but then club decisions are different and normally you don’t get what you want which happened during all my career.
“So if I get one player until the end of the market, that’s fine.”

Sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho wants a centre-back and a right winger before the transfer window closes.
He has already signed midfielder Fred, right-back Diogo Dalot and goalkeeper Lee Grant this summer for a combined £68 million, but Mourinho insists his first-choice XI this season will not differ hugely from the team which finished 19 points behind Manchester City.
“It’s not going to be very different,” he said. “We basically have the same players.
“The players we have bought one is a goalkeeper cover, one is a 19-year-old kid. So in fact we have one new player which is Fred so of course our team is not going to be very different.”
