Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has warned that the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo could make it harder for his team to defend their Serie A title.
Ronaldo, 33, completed a €100 million move from Real Madrid earlier this month, but Allegri said he was wary of the excitement that his arrival in Turin had generated.
“Cristiano has lots of international experience and he will help us a lot, but we have to be careful,” the coach told reporters. “There is too much euphoria around us, and it’s not good.
“This year will be more difficult than others. Opponents will be more aggressive because we have won many games and now we have an excellent player like him.”
Allegri said the arrival of Ronaldo would mean opponents had “more motivation” but added: “With Ronaldo, I spoke about how happy and enthusiastic I am about him coming here. There will be time to speak about football.”
Meanwhile, Juventus announced on Friday that they had signed teenage Barcelona striker Pablo Moreno.
In a statement, the club said: “In the Blaugrana jersey, he has impressed everyone with his mix of technique and physical strength and his goal flair. He has scored over 200 goals in six years, attracting the attention of numerous big European clubs.”
