Huddersfield sign young winger Adama Diakhaby from Ligue 1 giants Monaco

Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of Adama Diakhaby from former Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco for an undisclosed fee.

The winger has signed a three-year deal with the Terriers that will see him stay at the club until at least 2021. However, the club have the option to extend the deal for a further year.

The Premier League side confirmed the news via their official club website, with Huddersfield boss David Wagner praising the player after he decided to leave France to continue his footballing career in England.

“I’m very happy to be able to welcome Adama to Huddersfield Town today,” said Wagner of Diakhaby.

“He is a very hungry young footballer with a strong desire to succeed in England, which is fantastic for our club.

“Obviously he is still learning and improving at 22 years old, but he already has many of the qualities that we look for in our attacking players. He’s a direct player who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and with genuine pace, which suits our style perfectly.

“We’re really looking forward to working with him on the training pitch and seeing him pull on our blue and white shirt in games, as I’m sure our fans are too!”

The 22-year-old Frenchman played a total of 30 matches for the 2017 Ligue 1 champions, scoring three and assisting the same amount.

He has four caps for the France U21 squad and will be hoping to improve on the two goals he scored for Monaco last season.

That is according to Wikipedia page which has been overrun by ‘wiki-trolls’, who have temporarily deleted Diakhaby’s originals stats and forged numbers more suited to Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.

His ‘career to date’ as advertised briefly on his wiki page shows an incredible player who has scored left, right and centre like a madman.

Diakhaby has scored 271 goals in just 80 games, the bio says, an average a goal every 0.29 games. Diakhaby is down as having even scored five goals for Huddersfield without kicking a ball.

Looks like the Terriers have got themselves a bargain.
