The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has overturned UEFA’s decision to ban AC Milan from the Europa League.
European football’s governing body imposed the ban, over a breaking of financial fair play (FFP) rules after the case was referred to the adjudicatory chamber of its club financial control body.
Milan’s exclusion from the Europa League meant Atalanta taking their place in the group stage with Fiorentina — who finished eighth last season — entered in the second qualifying round.
But speaking after a hearing on Thursday, Milan managing director Marco Fassone said: “I have the feeling that the members of CAS have heard well the details of our plan. They have all the elements to make a good judgment.”
