In a recent interview, new Barcelona star Arthur Melo stated that Brazil captain Neymar convinced him to join the La Liga champions.
Having just arrived at the Camp Nou, Arthur is already making quite a name for himself, the highly rated midfielder has slotted and settled along well with his new teammates. The 21-year-old joined Barcelona from Brazilian side Gremio in a deal worth €39 million and has opened up on why he chose to join La Blaugrana.
Arthur Opens Up On Neymar’s Influence-
Speaking to SPORT in a recent interview, the technically gifted midfielder sounded happy with his new teammates and how they welcomed him at the club making life comfortable, “Everything has been great. The structure of the club is something I admire. Everybody is at such a high level and they’ve been very welcoming to me.”
Arthur added that one of the main reasons that he joined Barcelona was because he wanted to win major trophies and big honors, “One of the reasons I signed for Barcelona was because they are always battling for the most important trophies and it won’t be any different now that I’m here. My dream is to win the Champions League and I’ll do everything possible to make that happen.”
And finally when asked about Neymar had any say in helping Arthur to join Barcelona the Brazilian explained, “Yes when I was deciding whether to come or not, he sent me a message telling me about all the positive things at Barcelona. He spoke about how it was a marvelous club, with very welcoming people, a great city. Lots of good things.”
Neymar left Barcelona last summer and joined Paris Saint Germain for a world record fee of £198 million.

Maybe Neymar really misses Barcelona and only has positive things to say about his former club. This is a big blow for Real Madrid who is in pursuit of the 25-year-old winger to replace Juventus bound Cristiano Ronaldo.
