If any clubs are interested in signing Jean-Michael Seri from OGC Nice, they might want to do it in the next six days.
After July 15th, the Ivory Coast international’s €40m “release clause” will expire, meaning clubs would have to negotiate with the Ligue 1 club, who will most likely make life difficult for everyone involved.
Among the reportedly interested clubs have been Chelsea, who, according to Euro United, Paris United’s ‘European’ account, have had a pre-contract agreement with the midfielder ‘for weeks’.
This, however, has been denied to Sport Witness.
While Chelsea are indeed interested in Seri, the Blues are yet to show anything concrete, meaning it’s been a bit of contact here and there, but no more.
As things stand, the likeliest route for the Nice star would be one leading him to Borussia Dortmund, where he would once again team up with Lucien Favre, who was key to his breakthrough at the French club two years ago.
We’ll have to see where this goes, but, for now, a move to Chelsea certainly isn’t as close as is being reported.
