Manchester United sign goalkeeper Lee Grant from Stoke sell Sam Johnstone to West Brom

Thibaut Courtois believes Marouane Fellaini is a useful player for both Belgium and Manchester United, after he signed a new two-year deal at Old Trafford.

MANCHESTER, England — Manchester United have signed veteran goalkeeper Lee Grant from Stoke, the club have confirmed.

The club also announced the sale of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to West Brom.

The 35-year-old Grant has signed a two-year deal at Old Trafford, where he will provide cover for David De Gea and Sergio Romero.

Sources have told ESPN FC it is likely to mean last season’s third-choice goalkeeper Joel Pereira, 22, will be allowed to leave on loan.

Grant made five appearances for Stoke in all competitions last season as understudy to Jack Butland.

After beginning his career at Derby, the former England Under-21 international has also spent time at Burnley, Oldham and Sheffield Wednesday.

He made 28 Premier League appearances for Stoke during the 2016-17 season, including a fantastic performance in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, sources tell ESPN FC United have sold the 25-year-old Johnstone to West Brom for £6.5 million.

West Brom announced they signed Johnstone to a four-year contract earlier on Tuesday but did not disclose details of the transfer.

Johnstone is a United academy product who spent the past two seasons on loan at Aston Villa.

Sources have also told ESPN FC that Dean Henderson has agreed a season-long loan move to Sheffield United.
