Defensive recruitment
Everton are on the verge of completing their first summer signing with reports that a deal for one Ligue 1 defender is on the verge of completion.
The Toffees are currently overhauling their squad with several big names set to leave the club over the next month or so.
Wayne Rooney and Ramiro Funes Mori have already left the club with up to another seven reportedly being lined up for sale.
That means that there will also be a need for recruitment in places and following Mori’s sale to Villarreal, the club are in need of a defender.
Now, it looks as though they have settled on one in the form of Rennes defender Ramy Bensebaini.
Shrewd buy
The Algerian was part of the Rennes defence that finished fifth in Ligue 1 last season.
Not only that, he is aged just 23-years of age and could represent a buy for the future as well as an impressive defender now.
L’Equipe are reporting that following advanced negotiations over the past few days, a deal is close.
It is said that his transfer will cost in the region €15million and would be Marco Silva’s first summer signing.
As according to the report, ‘the case could very quickly be concluded.’
Ramy Bensebaini is a very versatile player that could really help out in the Everton squad.
While he operates predominantly as a central defender, he can play at left-back and also in central midfield is needed.
He made 33 appearances for Rennes last season.
