Everton lodge enquiry over deal to sign Ligue 1 defender

Everton have reportedly lodged an enquiry over a deal to sign Ramy Bensebaïni from Rennes this summer.

The Toffees are out to add more defensive quality to the ranks ahead of next season and according to claims from France, as reported by GFFN, Bensebaïni has emerged as a target.

It’s believed that, along with Everton, Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have also expressed an interest in signing the defender, who enjoyed a good season in Ligue 1 last term.

The 23-year-old has often been lauded for his ability to play in a range of different positions across the back four but is widely perceived as a central defender.

Bensebaïni made 29 appearances in Ligue 1 last season and impressed many with his displays, with Everton evidently being among those keen.

The Toffees have not yet made a summer signing, but it seems they are focusing on defensive additions at this moment in time, with reports indicating that they will also submit a bid to sign Kieran Tierney from Celtic.
