Liverpool’s preseason training began on Monday morning as a total of 26 players reported to Melwood for the beginning of the club’s summer schedule.
New signings Fabinho and Naby Keita were among those present as the players underwent physical tests and assessments after their break.
Players on international duty over the summer have been granted an extended break and will return at a later date.
Mohamed Salah, who signed a new five-year contract on Monday, is on holiday following Egypt’s elimination from the World Cup, but is expected to be part of the squad for the preseason tour to the United States.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones, Rafael Camacho and Nathaniel Phillips were some of Liverpool’s youngsters that took part in the sessions on Monday.
The squad were split up into groups of three and then performed function of movement and lactate testing after eating breakfast. They then headed to the club’s rehabilitation gym in the afternoon to complete jumps and individual assessments.
Liverpool’s first friendly of the summer is on Saturday afternoon as they make the short journey to Chester FC.
Chester will receive all of the gate receipts from the game, which is expected to draw a crowd of around 4,500, after Liverpool decided to aid the National League North side’s financial struggles.
