Transfer Talk: Liverpool return for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir after failed first move

The transfer window is open, and Transfer Talk has the latest rumours making the rounds. Follow along with our daily blog throughout the summer.

Fekir to Liverpool back on

Liverpool’s move for Nabil Fekir appears to be back on after talks with Lyon resumed.

The Mirror claims the previously agreed £53 million deal could be resurrected after the Reds backed out of the original deal due to concerns over the France international’s previous medical issues.

The 24-year-old had put pen to paper on a deal and even completed a welcome interview for LFC TV.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed Manchester United have emerged as an alternative destination for the playmaker, who is away on international duty with France, though a compromise with Liverpool may now be possible despite hostility between the clubs.

Chelsea on verge of announcing Sarri

Chelsea will begin their player recruitment drive next week once they have announced Maurizio Sarri as their new manager.

The Guardian claims the Blues will officially replace Antonio Conte with the former Napoli boss at the start of next week, which will allow them to begin reshuffling their squad.

One condition Napoli will insist on, claims the Mirror, is that Sarri does not attempt to sign any of his previous players.

Alvaro Morata and non-World Cup players will return next week and the striker will hold showdown talks over his future, though the £58m-rated Spaniard could leave if suitable offers arrive.

Aleksandr Golovin could be the first signing under Sarri, costing around £27m, while Daniele Rugani and Alisson Becker could soon follow.

The Mail also includes Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic on the Blues’ wish list, with the American previously linked with Liverpool.

Arsenal to finalise Torreira deal next week

Arsenal will finalise negotiations for Lucas Torreira next week with the Gunners ready to pay up his £25m release clause.

The Sampdoria star helped Uruguay advance to the World Cup quarterfinals after a 2-1 victory over Portugal on Saturday night.

The Mail claims the 22-year-old will be joined by Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who will arrive in a £17m deal.

The finer details are being ironed out with the Italian club for Torreira, with an official announcement coming once Uruguay’s campaign in Russia is concluded.

All that is left is for the Catalan club to make it official, with the €35m (£31m) release clause set to be triggered for the French defender.

The Andalusians will also move for Lille captain Ibrahim Amadou, who can play as a defensive midfielder or centre-back, and L’Equipe claims he will cost €15-17m (£13.3-15.1m).

– Fenerbahce are the latest club to show an interest in Jack Wilshere with his Arsenal contract set to expire.

The 26-year-old has confirmed to Sky Sports that he is willing to move abroad, though Fulham, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Everton and Wolves have also been linked with a move.

– Burnley want James Collins on a free transfer after his release from West Ham, says the Sun.

Sean Dyche believes the 34-year-old centre-back is an ideal short-term replacement for Ben Mee, who could leave after failing to agree a new deal with just a year left on his current contract.

– Fulham are ready to bid £14m for Wolves star Ivan Cavaleiro, reports the Mirror.

The Premier League newcomers have joined the race for the Portuguese winger after Huddersfield saw a bid knocked back this month.
