TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
The LA Galaxy have gone to Sweden to sign a number of players over the years, and of course have the world’s most famous Swedish soccer player, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, already on their roster. Could another Swede be on the way?
It’s possible, according to a report in Swedish outlet Expressen on Thursday, which indicated Hammarby winger Jiloan Hamad is in the sights of several MLS teams, including the Galaxy.
Hamad, 27, has played in his native Sweden (BK Forward, Malmo and Hammarby), Germany (1899 Hoffenheim) and Belgium (Standard Liege) to date in his career. The Azerbaijan-born player moved to Sweden as a toddler, and is also a senior Swedish international, having played for his country eight times. Hamad was named Allsvenskan Player of the Month earlier this season.
The Expressen report indicates that it is possible Hamad could be signed and loaned back to Hammarby to see out the rest of the Allsvenskan season, which runs through mid-November. Coincidentally, the Galaxy’s ownership group, AEG, own a minority stake in Hammarby.
