Seattle Sounders and Roger Levesque weigh in on which Portland is best

It might be the MLS Cup of trolling as Seattle Sounders went in deep on the Portland Timbers.

In an epically detailed and elaborate troll, the Sounders detailed their love for Portland — Maine.

“It’s another port city on a real body of water, not a river. There is a hip donut store, tons of breweries, some neat bridges, cool vegan restaurants and indie music stores. Portland is amazing. We love it there. Portland, Maine. The only Portland that matters. The first and very best Portland in the world!”

It doesn’t just end there.

They used Portland, Maine native Roger Levesque, a club legend, as part of their troll job.

Levesque, who currently serves as the Sounders director of community outreach, donned his Rave Green jersey in a video filmed in his hometown, detailing all of Portland, Maine’s strongest attributes.

Still, not done.

The Sounders listed facts about Portland, Maine and how “the sequel” in Oregon adopted the same name and then had a slideshow where Levesque posed with members of the Portland, Maine community, including mayor Ethan Strimling, with a Sounders FC scarf.

The Sounders close it out with an ad about their next meeting against the Timbers on June 30 at CenturyLink Field, saying “Come see the Sounders face off against the second-best Portland”

A bold troll job, no doubt, considering the Western Conference standings, which has the Portland Timbers 11 points ahead of Seattle for the sixth and final playoff spot.
