Negotiations with Inter Milan blocked

Girondins de Bordeaux have blocked negotiations with Inter Milan over a deal for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Malcom, according to RMC Sport.

The French club turned down the Italian’s 40m euro offer for the winger, however, it was the proposed structure of the payment rather than the amount that caused Bordeaux to bring to an end talks.

Inter are believed to have offered payments far too staggered due to their current Financial Fair Play limitations and Bordeaux will now look elsewhere to offload the Brazilian.

Negotiations blocked

Inter’s offer

Inter have become renowned for the way in which they conduct their transfers, with deals usually involving them spreading out costs over several financial years and signing players on loan with an option to buy.

In this case, this appears to have cost them the signing of Malcom – the highly-coveted winger who impressed whilst playing in Ligue 1 last season.

During the 2017/2018 campaign, he netted 12 goals with seven assists in 35 Ligue 1 appearances for Bordeaux – attracting the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are two clubs that remain interested in the winger with Premium Sport reporting that his was set to fly to England to discuss the possibility of the 21-year-old joining either club.

Forwards targeted

Liverpool and Tottenham have both been strongly linked with moves for forwards so far this summer, with the likes of Nabil Fekir and Xherdan Shaqiri targeted by the Reds and Spurs chasing Anthony Martial, Wilfried Zaha and Leon Bailey.

With all these targets beginning to slip away, both Premier League clubs could turn their attention back to signing Malcom.
