Bayern Munich will host Manchester United in a preseason friendly at a refurbished Allianz Arena in August, the club announced on Monday.
Incoming coach Niko Kovac will officially take over at Bayern on July. 1 and can look forward to a mouth-watering clash against the record English champions on Aug. 5.
Before facing the Premier League runners-up, Kovac’s side will take part in the International Champions Cup against Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Manchester City in July and embark on a summer tour of the United States.
Bayern face Thomas Tuchel’s PSG on July 21 in Klagenfurt, Austria, before flying out to face Italian champions Juventus four days later at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The German champions round off their trip with a match against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on July 28.
Meanwhile, after local rival 1860 Munich moved out last year, Bayern have taken the opportunity during the off-season to freshen up, what is now, their own stadium. The prestigious friendly against Jose Mourinho’s will provide a first look at a new red and white design in the stands as well as “graffiti artwork” created by Bayern fans.
