L’Equipe have a transfer special in their Tuesday edition with a section for each Ligue 1 club and a look at what business they could be doing before the close of the window.
For Bordeaux the big issue is obviously Malcom. The Brazilian attacker had wanted to leave previously, but was kept at the club with an eye to a summer 2018 transfer.
Tottenham had been the club most linked with a swoop, with claims of talks between Spurs and the player’s entourage, and even Mauricio Pochettino being brought into the equation.
That track appears to have gone cold, with no mention of the club by L’Equipe on Tuesday. Liverpool do get a mention, which is perhaps surprising.
Jurgen Klopp’s club have been linked before but certainly not to the extent of others, yet L’Equipe say Liverpool have ‘ recently positioned themselves’ for the player.
Bordeaux want €40m, which wouldn’t be a problem for the Anfield club, and Wolfsburg have already been knocked back when coming with €15m less than that.
Despite all the claims of interest, from Liverpool and elsewhere, L’Equipe say the situation is quiet right now so the Reds must be positioned somewhere on the transfer horizon, waiting to see what happens with other business.
