Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool team departed John Lennon airport as they head to Kiev for the Champions League Final.
KIEV, Ukraine — Lyon captain Nabil Fekir is a target for Liverpool this summer, a source has told ESPN FC.
Liverpool have routinely been linked with a move for the 24-year-old in recent weeks, although sources said earlier this month that the Merseyside club had not approached Lyon regarding a transfer for the attacking midfielder.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently told SFR Sport that Liverpool were yet to contact the French side about a possible move for Fekir, but ESPN FC has been told the Champions League finalists want to acquire the France international in the summer transfer window.
The Telegraph reported earlier that Liverpool will step up their interest in Fekir after Saturday’s European final against Real Madrid.
Nabil Fekir
After a successful season at Lyon that saw him score 23 goals in 40 appearances, Fekir is part of Didier Deschamps’ France team heading to Russia for the World Cup.
Aulas, who said he would hold talks with Fekir regarding his future in France, has warned that any potential suitors for Fekir would have to be “very rich” to prise him away.
Fekir has spent all of his professional career at Lyon, where he has made 153 appearances, scoring 57 times. He guided Lyon to Champions League qualification last term in his first season as club captain.
