Chivas forward Rodolfo Pizarro may not have made Mexico’s World Cup squad, but the 24-year-old looks set to move on from Liga MX this summer.
Pizarro helped Chivas to the 2017 Clausura Liga MX title and the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League and while rumors have swirled about him leaving, there are now two offers on the table that the Guadalajara club appear to be happy with.
“There is an offer from a European club and an offer as well from a Mexican club, offers that I would say are impossible to reject,” Chivas sporting director Francisco Gabriel de Anda told ESPN’s Raza Deportiva on Thursday.
“If it is an offer that suits the institution in the moment it is going through and the footballer also accepts it’s possible he leaves,” said Gabriel de Anda.
Monterrey has widely been reported as the Liga MX club interested in Pizarro, while PSV Eindhoven has regularly been linked with the former Pachuca player.
Chivas are currently going through a period of “financial consolidation,” according to Gabriel de Anda, and won’t be spending large sums on new signings.
Gabriel de Anda also stated in a news conference on Wednesday that coach Matias Almeyda was uneasy about the lack of spending and Pizarro’s possible exit.
Pizarro wasn’t included in Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio’s 28-player provisional World Cup squad, a decision that sparked some criticism in the Mexican media.
