PARIS — Paris Saint-Germain chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi has promised that superstar Neymar will “2,000 percent” be with the French champions again next season amid rumours linking the Brazil international with Real Madrid.
Speaking in the mixed zone after PSG’s 2-0 Ligue 1 defeat to Rennes in their Parc des Princes finale, the Qatari supremo had his say on Neymar’s future and the state of French football journalism.
“Who has said Neymar will not be staying? Has somebody said that? Nobody,” Al-Khelaifi told journalists. “Neymar has a contract with us — he will 2,000 percent be here next season. I am sure. Neymar wants to stay.
“The Spanish press are for the Spanish clubs. You [the French press]… That is a question mark.”
Asked about Unai Emery’s replacement as coach, Al-Khelaifi did not reveal a name but revealed the Spaniard’s successor could be confirmed as early as Sunday.
“We will name our new coach [on Sunday] or next week,” said the 44-year-old. “I will not tell you right now. You play with us, so we will play with you.”
Also quizzed over PSG’s discussions with UEFA regarding financial fair play (FFP), Al-Khelaifi declared the Ligue 1 giants “very confident” they will not be in serious trouble for last summer’s signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
