West Ham to include Andy Carroll in squad after apology for leaving bench

Andy Carroll left the bench after he was not substituted into the game against Manchester City last weekend.

West Ham United manager David Moyes said Andy Carroll will be back in the squad to face Leicester City on Saturday after he apologised for his behaviour during the game against Manchester City.

Carroll was unhappy with not appearing in the 4-1 defeat against City and left the bench before the end of the game after not being used as a substitute.

The striker, who apologised on Wednesday, was fined by the club, and Moyes is happy for Carroll to be in contention for selection at the King Power Stadium.

“We’ve moved on,” Moyes said at a news conference on Friday. “We’re quite happy now it’s done and dusted.

“He was in the squad last week. That’s why he was on the bench. He will be in the squad this weekend as well.”

West Ham remain in a precarious position in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone, following 4-1 defeats to Arsenal and City.

They are without a win from their last four games and travel to Leicester before matches against Moyes’ former clubs, Manchester United and Everton, at the London Stadium.
