It is not the first time the Reds have been involved in a European gaffe after Roma starting selling tickets against Liverpool before their draw had been made
LIVERPOOL have been already been crowned winners of the Champions League… according to Uefa.
European football’s governing body made a huge blooper on their website by revealing the Reds beat Real Madrid to be named kings of Europe.
A banner at the top of the ‘history’ section of their site clearly says “Season 2017/18 Winner Liverpool.”
Jurgen Klopp’s side face back-to-back winners Real Madrid on May 26 in Kiev gunning for their sixth European crown.
Amazingly it’s not the first time the Reds have been involved in a Champions League scandal.
Suspicious fans feared the semi-final draw was fixed after Roma advertised tickets to take on Liverpool before the names were pulled out of the hat.
The two clubs then faced each other in the draw and Liverpool fans will be hoping the latest gaffe is another sign of things to come.
And adding to the omen that Jordan Henderson will be lifting the famous trophy in Ukraine, an eerily familiar tale took place when they were last announced Champions League winners in the 2004-05 campaign.
BACK TO WORK Liverpool squad return home from Champions League semi-final triumph over Roma
During that season the Reds lost 2-1 at Old Trafford with one player scoring both Manchester United goals and Liverpool’s consolation coming via an own goal.
Fast forward to 2017-18, Liverpool lost to the same scoreline at the same ground, again with one player scoring both goals and notching their own through an own goal.
Liverpool’s run to the Champions League final will mean they bank nearly £70million.
Their performances in the group stage, where each win or draw earns more money, and reaching the final, have earned the Anfield outfit £44.8m.
They then pocketed cash by cruising through the knockouts and will take a windfall from the BT share of the “market pool”.
