“This is a phenomenal opportunity for Chris and Thomas,” FC Dallas president Dan Hunt said in a statement. “Both of these players have bright futures and this experience with FC Bayern will give them great exposure to the sport on a global scale.”
The 18-year old Richards joined the FC Dallas academy last year and has started 14 matches for FC Dallas’ U-19s this season in USSDA play. The Alabama native also started all three matches for the U-19s in Dallas Cup. He signed a Homegrown contract with the club on Apr. 12 and will be eligible to be added to the first-team roster upon completion of his Homegrown eligibility requirements.
Roberts, 17, has five goals in 15 appearances for the FC Dallas U-19 academy side this season. The Arkansas native joined the FCD organization in the 2015-16 academy season.
