Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window. Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.
Liverpool target Neves
Wolverhampton Wanderers wonderkid Ruben Neves has emerged as a leading target for Liverpool following his exploits in the Championship this season, reports TalkSport.
Neves has helped steer Wolves back to the Premier League, scoring some stunning goals along the way, and his sparkling performances have apparently caught the eye of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
Having made his Porto debut at 17 and captained the club in the Champions League, Neves has an impressive pedigree, winning five caps for Portugal and pushing for a place in the country’s World Cup squad.
The 21-year-old is unlikely to come cheap, however, after joining Wolves for £15.8 million last summer in a deal brokered by super-agent Jorge Mendes.
Manchester United have also been linked with the midfielder, but Liverpool could force themselves to the front of the queue as they look to reinvest the Philippe Coutinho fee.
Wolves want Wilshere
With talk of Neves heading to Liverpool, Wolves are plotting a move for Jack Wilshere on their Premier League return, the Daily Mirror claims.
Wilshere’s contract expires in the summer, with the midfielder so far failing to agree on a new deal to extend his stay at Arsenal.
That could open the door for Wolves to sneak in and sign the England midfielder on a free transfer, though Everton and Manchester City are also monitoring the situation.
Juventus and AC Milan have also expressed an interest in Wilshere as the 26-year-old weighs his options before the World Cup.
Jorginho on Man United list
Jose Mourinho is desperate to strengthen his midfield this summer, and Napoli’s Jorginho is thought to be high on the manager’s wish list.
The Independent says Mourinho has been “greatly impressed” by Jorginho’s role in Napoli’s title challenge as he looks to replace Michael Carrick’s passing quality in the middle of the pitch.
Although Toni Kroos would be Mourinho’s first choice to spark another overhaul at Manchester United, Jorginho is regarded as a “more viable” option than the Real Madrid midfielder.
The 26-year-old isn’t the only name linked with United, however, with Mourinho also assessing Borussia Dortmund youngster Julian Weigl, Valencia’s Carlos Soler and Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk.
Tap-ins
— Newcastle hope to sign Chelsea winger Kenedy on a permanent basis following his impressive loan spell at the club, the Northern Echo reports. The Magpies face competition for the in-demand 22-year-old, though, with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich also thought to be interested.
— Lyon have joined the race to sign Anthony Martial from Manchester United, The Sun claims. The 22-year-old started out in Lyon’s youth setup before joining Monaco in a cut-price deal in 2013.
— Arsenal won’t pursue a £60 million move for Martial, however, despite Arsene Wenger’s enquiring about the winger in January before swapping Alexis Sanchez for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and a sackful of cash. The Evening Standard says the Gunners will focus on reinforcing the defence and midfield before looking at attacking additions.
— Chelsea and Spurs are set to duke it out for Paris-Saint Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa. The 25-year-old is available for transfer, according to the Daily Mirror, as PSG look to raise funds before splashing out on new players.
