Highly coveted winger Malcom is set to leave Bordeaux this summer, the club’s majority shareholder has indicated.
The 21-year-old Brazilian star drew reported interest from north London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal in January and though he ultimately stayed in France, he has made no secret of his ambition to further his career elsewhere.
And Nicolas de Tavernost, president of the M6 group which owns Les Girondins, made it clear at his company’s AGM that Malcom will get his wish this summer.
While he did not use the player’s name in quotes reported by Ouest-France and L’Equipe, De Tavernost said: “There is a major player from Brazil who you know wants to leave the club and we will do that in all of our interests.
“It is the reason we bought this player in the first place, to eventually sell him in between seasons.”
Malcom has scored nine goals and added eight assists in 30 Ligue 1 appearances for Bordeaux this season and has made 92 appearances in all competitions since joining from Corinthians in January 2016. He has represented his country at under-20 level.
