Gianluigi Buffon is not aware of any interest that Boca Juniors have in signing him, according to his longtime agent, Silvano Martina told Clarin.
Ole reported on Sunday that Boca want to sign Buffon this summer, when the 40-year-old goalkeeper becomes a free agent.
Clarin also reported Boca’s interest, claiming that Boca president Daniel Angelici once met Buffon when fellow Argentine and Boca star Carlos Tevez played for Juventus.
“I’ve read in Italy that in Argentina, they are talking about this possibility,” Martina said. “But I honestly know nothing about this. I think it’s just a report like any other. We know nothing about this.”
Boca want to strengthen their backline with an experienced keeper, with Agustin Rossi, 22, their current No. 1.
Rossi has made 22 league appearances for the Superliga leaders, conceding 15 goals.
Buffon, the 2006 World Cup winner and eight-time Scudetto champion, has been expected to retire this summer but has increasingly hinted he could continue playing for another season.
