Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window; Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.
Is Pogba on his way out of Old Trafford?
Could it be the end of the Manchester United road for record signing Paul Pogba?
Yes, according to the Mail, which reports that United boss Jose Mourinho “is ready to let Pogba leave in a sensational move in the summer.”
The report says Mourinho “has run out of patience” with France international Pogba and “included him on a list of players who can be sold as he attempts to close the gap on champions Manchester City.”
The Mail claims Pogba’s relationship with his manager “has deteriorated rapidly this season” but adds that Old Trafford executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward “will be reluctant to part with such a marquee figure so quickly” after his £89 million return from Juventus in 2016.
Meanwhile, the Mail says Mourinho is stepping up his interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
United scouts “checked on Milinkovic-Savic,” valued by his club at almost £90 million, as Lazio lost to Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League last week.
The Serbia international, 23, may not have had one of his better games that night — but his form over the season has been impressive and he has scored 11 goals.
However, an element of uncertainty continues to surround the future of forward Marcus Rashford after reports earlier this month suggested he was growing frustrated by a lack of regular first-team starts.
The Sun says Rashford “is set to delay talks over a new United deal,” with two years remaining on his current contract, adding that the fact Mourinho is set for a busy summer has complicated matters.
United are also “making more checks on Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney,” according to the Mirror.
It says Mourinho “has had glowing reports” about the 20-year-old and United believe they could sign him for around £10m, with his arrival paving the way for Luke Shaw’s departure.
Liverpool switch goalkeeping focus to Barca’s Cillessen
After Roma president James Pallotta made it plain that Liverpool target Alisson will not be sold in the summer, the Reds are turning their focus elsewhere in the quest for a new keeper.
TalkSPORT, citing reports in Spain, says Liverpool have asked about Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen.
Cillessen is on the lookout for regular first-team football, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen in his way at the Camp Nou, and Napoli and Atletico Madrid are among other clubs interested.
The 28-year-old would cost significantly less than Alisson, with some reports having valued Roma’s Brazil international, who has been linked with Real Madrid, at £40m.
Tap-ins
– Wolves are back in the Premier League, and the Telegraph says they are ready to spend £20m to secure permanent moves for two loan players who helped them get there.
It reports that Bournemouth forward Benik Afobe, at Wolves before joining the Cherries in 2016, is set is return for around £10m, while defender Willy Boly will follow suit from Porto for the same sort of amount.
– Manchester City are interested in Vasco da Gama’s teenage forward Paulinho, according to the Mail.
Paulinho, 17, has attracted attention since winning a place in the Vasco first team last year, and the Mail says Atletico Madrid “are understood to have had a £12m bid rejected” and Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs — but City could be favourites.
