Who said defenders can’t score?
Not only did Portland Timbers right back Alvas Powell find the back of the net in Week 7, but he did it in spectacular fashion.
The Jamaican international pushed up the field, embarking on one of his patented slalom runs through a few defenders until he was in position to fire home past Minnesota United goalkeeper Matt Lampson to put the Timbers ahead in the 20th minute.
Now in his sixth season in Portland, it was Powell’s fifth career MLS goal in 101 league appearances.
