Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window, and Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.
Gomes asks for Barca exit
After two years of struggling to hold down a regular place in Barcelona’s midfield, Andre Gomes has requested the club sell him this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 24-year-old has suitors in the Premier League, with multiple English outlets reporting the former Valencia man is of interest to Manchester United, and AC Milan are also reportedly exploring bringing Gomes to Italy.
The Catalan publication states that the Portuguese international is just the biggest name amid a handful of players who could move on from the Camp Nou this summer.
Wing-back Aleix Vidal is expected to be sold, recently arrived centre-back Yerry Mina is a candidate for a loan spell, and the club would be willing to part with both Denis Suarez and Paco Alcacer, though neither is expected to leave; Denis is determined to earn his place with the Blaugrana, while Alcacer is similarly uninterested in leaving — and also has a shortage of suitors at present.
Liverpool join race for Donnarumma
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have long led the race for the potential signing of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer, but don’t write off a late charge from Liverpool, Calciomercato cites Tuttosport as reporting.
The 19-year-old Italy international was at the centre of a summer-long contract saga last year, and while he signed a new deal before the close of the transfer window, he has been rumoured throughout this campaign to leave the San Siro at the end of the season.
Madrid are expected to finally pull the trigger on replacing Keylor Navas, while neither Alphonse Areola nor Kevin Trapp have grabbed the spotlight to sufficiently secure the PSG No. 1 shirt.
Goalkeeper has been a problem position throughout Jurgen Klopp’s tenure on Merseyside, as gaffes from Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have continually undermined Liverpool’s progress.
Chicago, Casillas have ‘mutual interest’
After being linked with a move for Porto keeper and former Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas, it seems the Chicago Fire may get their man this summer.
MLSsoccer.com reports that the 36-year-old and the Fire share “mutual interest” in agreeing to a deal. The report states that Casillas would not be a designated player, and Chicago could potentially bring him in without using targeted allocation money.
Casillas is out of contract at Porto this summer, leaving the Eastern Conference side to bring the former World Cup and European Championship winner to the Windy City on a free transfer.
Tap-ins
– While he has found his role shrinking at Real Madrid, Gareth Bale has no plans to leave the Bernabeu, Spanish publication AS reports. If the Welsh international is to make a long-rumoured return to the Premier League this summer, it will be up to Los Blancos to initiate his sale.
– While Monaco have already accounted for sales of Thomas Lemar and Fabinho this summer, French outlet Le10 Sport reports that Djibril Sidibe could also leave the principality, with Jose Mourinho declaring his interest in bringing the 25-year-old right-back to Manchester United.
– According to Calciomercato, AC Milan and Tottenham are both monitoring Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj closely. Badelj just turned 29 and has made more than 100 appearances for La Viola since 2014.
