Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi has taken to social media to slam the decision from UEFA to close the case on Atalanta for alleged racism during the Europa League match with Borussia Dortmund.
The 24-year-old alleged that he was subject to monkey noises from the home crowd during the match on February 22 at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.
UEFA opened the case to look into the claims, however they have now been closed by the association and stated that there was no action to be taken against the Serie A side.
Both teams were in fact charged for allowing fireworks on to the pitch and the throwing of objects, and in fact it was the visitors that were fined more than the Italian club.
Dortmund were fined €40,000, while Atalanta were fined €34,000, and the fact that no charges were taken against the Italian club has not gone down well with Batshuayi.
The Belgian said in his first tweet – ‘LOL. Must be my imagination’, before following it up with ‘Its just monkey noise who cares?’
While several Chelsea fans have also taken to social media to vent their anger at the decision from UEFA.
