Diego Valeri converted on a penalty just before the break to equalize for Portland after Handwalla Bwana had given the Sounders the early lead in the teams’ traditional one-a-preseason Cascadia Cup preview fixture.

Seattle felt aggrieved at the penalty called on Yordy Delem that may have occurred outside the 18.

However, Delem was rescued by VAR after appearing to concede another penalty on a second-half handball, with replay showing an offsides violation prior to the sequence.
But after mass substitutions from both sides, Ebobisse and Asprilla connected late to give the Timbers a third victory in as many preseason matches.
